Greg Carmichael brings extensive experience to the Board of Directors of City National Bank and serves as its executive chair. Additionally, he serves as executive chair of RBC U.S. Group Holdings, LLC, RBC’s intermediate holding company in the U.S. (the “IHC”).
In March 2023 regulators tapped Carmichael to run the collapsed Signature Bank. The New York based bank was closed by the FDIC and its $110 billion of assets and $88.6 billion of deposits were moved to Signature Bridge Bank to which Carmichael was appointed CEO.
Previously, Greg was the CEO and Executive Chairman of Fifth Third Bank (Nasdaq: FITB,) the ninth-largest U.S. consumer bank. During his time as CEO, he oversaw significant growth in assets to more than $200 billion from $141 billion and built a reputation for a strong focus on customers and leading-edge innovation.
Greg has a deep background in both technology and operations, having served as Chief Operating Officer at 5/3 Bank for nine years, as well as Chief Information Officer from 2003 to 2008. Prior to Fifth Third, Greg was the Global CIO of Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR) and CIO of subsidiaries of General Electric. (NYSE: GE)
Greg serves on the Board of Directors of Encompass Health (NYSE: ENC) and Dragonfly Financial Technologies (a Hauser Private Equity co-investment.) Mr. Carmichael holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Dayton, a Master of Science from Central Michigan University, is a member of the Commercial Club of Cincinnati’s Executive Committee, and served as Chair of the 2022-23 Annual Community Campaign for the United Way of Greater Cincinnati.
